FERRAGOSTO DORGALESE

FERRAGOSTO DORGALESE

The Village Celebration

Every year, the people of Dorgali who turn thirty are invited to join the Comitato di San Giuseppe, a local committee entrusted with a special mission: organizing the town’s biggest summer celebration—Ferragosto.

Supported by the Municipality of Dorgali and the entire community, these “trenteni” work throughout the year as ambassadors of tradition and togetherness, preparing an event-rich program that brings the village to life.

Ferragosto Dorgalese coincides with one of the town’s most heartfelt religious events: the feast of the Assumption. The celebration is preceded by a calendar of spiritual moments culminating in the solemn Mass on August 15th and a traditional procession through the streets, with locals proudly wearing their folk costumes.

From August 13th to 16th, Dorgali’s main squares and the waterfront promenade of Cala Gonone become vibrant open-air stages: street performers, live music, poetry contests, craft exhibitions, dancing, and more—offering something for everyone.

Combining deep-rooted traditions with contemporary creativity, Ferragosto Dorgalese celebrates the artistic and cultural soul of the region. The festivities usually conclude with a large open-air concert at the Arena Mesaustu, featuring renowned Italian artists in a festive, village-style atmosphere that’s hard to find anywhere else on the island.
